Everything You Need to Know About the Best Charleston Outdoor Adventures

Jet Ski Rentals in Charleston

There’s nothing like hopping on a jet ski and riding off towards the horizon, especially with the beautiful coast of Charleston as a backdrop. There are dozens of places to rent water equipment depending on where you’re hitting the waves, but one of our go-to’s is Tidal Wave WaterSports. Each jet ski can carry up to three riders at a time. They’ll provide everything you need to get started!

Charleston Paddleboarding

Paddleboarding in Charleston is one of our favorite ways to slow down, enjoy the outdoors, and get to know the beautiful natural surroundings of the area. While Shem Creek and Isle of Palms are our favorite places to explore, you can make a day out of this coastal activity no matter where you are!

Charleston Kayak Rentals

If you prefer to be sitting as you wade through the water, kayaking is another incredible way to explore the Charleston area. In fact, most places that rent kayaks will also rent paddleboards. You could even snag one of each! We recommend Folly Beach Adventures to find excellent service and everything you might need for a day out on the water.

Charleston Fishing

It’s no secret that Charleston is every fisher’s paradise! With so many intercoastal waterways and miles of coast, it’s easy to understand how choosing your spot can be a bit overwhelming. Find some of the best Southern fishing on Folly Beach. There’s a fantastic fishing pier on the island that offers surprisingly great fishing. You may even spot a dolphin or shark while overlooking the water! Plus, you can rest your toes in the sand while shore fishing on Folly.

The best secret of all? Check out the Morris Island Lighthouse Trail for truly incredible fishing. As a local secret, you’ll feel like you hit the jackpot!

Bike Trails in Charleston

Our Lowcountry city offers so many outdoor activities beyond the water that are definitely worth squeezing into your itinerary. One of the most exciting biking routes through Charleston is Wonders’ Way, which takes you over the Cooper River Bridge, an iconic landmark of the city. Other favorites include the West Ashley Bikeway and the West Ashley Greenway, both featuring the lush vegetation and unique ambiance of West Ashley. Both are worth an exploration!

Walking Trails in Charleston

There are plenty of places around the city to enjoy a leisure walk. For paths that feature some of Charleston’s iconic sights, we recommend walking across the Cooper River Bridge, and enjoying the Patriot’s Point Loop and the Low Battery Trail. Each of these boasts some of the most beautiful sights of the city like the infamous bridge, the Yorktown ship, and the stunning architecture featured along The Battery.

If you prefer a walk that’s a bit more nature-involved, check out the West Ashley Greenway, James Island County Park Trail, or even peruse the Magnolia Gardens.
