About the Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse
Also known as “Charleston Light,” The Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse is located at Station 18 1/2 Street. Although it was built in 1962, it’s considered one of the “newest” lighthouses in the United States. With its triangular shape rather than the iconic cylindrical shape most lighthouses have, it is also recognized as one of the most modern lighthouses in the country. “Charleston Light” is maintained by the National Park Service with help from the United State Coast Guard. It’s not open to the public but can easily be observed from the beach and the surrounding grounds.
