Spoleto Festival USA + Piccolo Spoleto
May 25 begins the two-week annual arts festivals we look forward to every year. Every possible spot (churches, gardens, parks, bars) turns into a venue. Thousands descend into downtown Charleston to celebrate it all: visual arts, performing arts, you name it. World-renowned performers, writers, and composers headline with the Spoleto Festival. The lesser-known, more affordable fringe events make up the always inspiring Piccolo Spoleto. Piccolo’s centerpiece event is the always the Outdoor Art Exhibition. Here over 75 artists solely from South Carolina display their works in the open air, free venue of Marion Square. This is rivaled only by the Spoleto finale, taking place at The Joe for the first time this year.
Second Sunday on King
King Street – Downtown
Second Sundays are back! The Second Sunday of the month, King Street (between Queen and Calhoun) shuts down and becomes a playground for pedestrians. It’s the perfect day for families to get out and enjoy downtown Charleston and all the food and shopping it has to offer. Buskers hit the streets too, so expect to hear some soothing acoustic sounds as you stroll, shop, and eat.
Southeastern Wildlife Exposition  Â
The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, or SEWE, is an annual event celebrating wildlife artists and sculptors and their beautiful creations. The exposition takes place each February and is the perfect excuse to visit the Holy City. Since 1983, SEWE has celebrated the great outdoors, fine art, live entertainment, and special events. Visit Charleston next February and experience this event for yourself.
Charleston Wine + Food Â
Charleston is a culinary destination like no other! Charleston Wine + Food aims to promote our city as a premier destination to experience delicious dishes and make meaningful connections with our community. This event takes place each March and April. Attendees can expect to taste dishes from around the city, and each contains a piece of Charleston’s story.
Holiday Festival of Lights  Â
Wintertime is all about enjoying the company of family and friends. One of the best ways to experience the warmth and coziness of this time of year is by attending the Holiday Festival of Lights. This event takes place in James Island County Park. Attendees will tour Santa’s Village and Winter Wonderland and see all the lights! Take a look at the festival map to see where everything is. There will also be sweet treats, a gift shop, and a holiday sand sculpture!
